The Master of Finance program is open for admission to all students. The program is best suited for students with a sufficient quantitative background and foundation of knowledge to support successful completion of the program. The most complementary undergraduate majors include business, engineering, mathematics, statistics and physics, among others. Students with less quantitative backgrounds may also apply, but should expect to take electives or additional courses to develop their quantitative skills. |
A STEM-Certified Degree Program |
This STEM-Certified program grants extended stay to work in the U.S. for international graduates. The Master of Finance Program is a STEM-certified degree program (science, technology, engineering and math). International students in a STEM-designated program are able to apply for 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) to work in the United States in their field of study after graduation. |
Access to a Bloomberg Terminal |
The program provides access to a Bloomberg Terminal for use by faculty and students. Students in the Master of Finance (MFin) Program can make use of the Bloomberg Terminal to access real-time financial data, comprehensive stock quotes and news from numerous financial and economic sources. |
CFA® Preparation Program |
One of the best paths to career success in finance is to earn the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. The School partners with Wiley to offer graduate and undergraduate students at UCR and UCR alums the opportunity to participate as a cohort in a co-curricular education program to pass the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Level I exam. The program includes 15 weeks of training, beginning in January and is designed to prepare you for the June exam date. |
The Master of Finance program requires completion of 48 units for graduation. On average, students complete the program coursework in one academic year. The TFE Times, a reputable source and ranking system, has UCR's Master of Finance Program ranked #64 in its 2020 Best Master's of Finance Programs. Full-time and part-time program The Master of Finance program can be completed in as little as three quarters of full-time study, and it's also appropriate for part-time students who wish to spread out the coursework over a longer period of time. While most students start the program in the fall term, applicants with appropriate undergraduate study or professional experience can be considered for admission in the winter or spring terms. |
