Criteria Fullfillment

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The academic programs at the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) are of the highest quality. All degree programs are ABET-accredited and have achieved ranking in a very short amount of time. We offer a range of majors and have one of the most diverse student bodies in the state of California. Offerings and availability of our classes are wide and varied. Our engineering courses are not impacted and are readily available allowing you to complete a four-year degree plan with ease. Most courses provide a theoretical and practical experience through classroom lecture and hands-on lab sessions.
FACULTY
The BCOE has world-class faculty drawn from the best universities. We are an A-1 research institution conducting cutting-edge research in such areas as Bioengineering, Nanoscience, and Materials Science. Additionally, teaching is an important aspect of faculty evaluations; therefore, our faculty members have a strong emphasis on both research and teaching. Faculty members are accessible and approachable. Students are guaranteed an opportunity to receive faculty mentoring and faculty advisement for more personal attention.
ACADEMIC RESOURCES
The BCOE Office of Student Academic Affairs is dedicated to providing professional and courteous academic advising, schedule planning, and course articulation assistance. All students are assigned an academic advisor who will stay with the student until graduation. We have brand-new buildings and computer facilities with the latest in advanced technology. Enginuity Hall, a themed floor in one of the residence halls specifically for science and engineering majors, and a 24-hour study room are just a few of the places where our students meet in college-sponsored study groups, tutoring sessions, and study skills workshops.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The BCOE is focused on the complete professional development of each student. Internships and research opportunities are strongly encouraged. Our Professional Development Milestones (PDM) program prepares students for life after graduation by outlining professional goals and the resources to achieve those goals in a web-friendly computer program. PDM is managed by the College’s Professional Development Officer who works with employers (including Fortune 500 companies) to create internship, co-operative, and full-time employment opportunities specifically for BCOE. The Professional Development Officer directs students to resources unique to our college including undergraduate research and engagement with engineering professional organizations. The Professional Development Officer assists students with resume writing, building interviewing skills, and identifying internship opportunities. There is an abundance of undergraduate research opportunities and faculty are always in need of student researchers. Additionally, scholarship opportunities, activities sponsored by engineering clubs/professional organizations, and career enhancing workshops and seminars are readily available.
